This site is operated by Ascend Building Solutions Ltd, a building contractor working across Wakefield, Leeds and Yorkshire. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the "data controller" for the information described here.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you fill in a form on this site, or contact us by phone or email, we collect:

• Your name
• Your phone number and email address
• The property postcode, property type and the service you are enquiring about
• Anything else you choose to tell us in the message box

Information collected automatically

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records your approximate location (town or city level, not your address), device and browser type, which pages you look at and how you arrived at the site. This is aggregated and we cannot identify you personally from it.

We also record your IP address when you submit the contact form, as part of the spam check described below.

We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not send newsletters or promotional email.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information to anybody. We share it only where it is necessary to run the business:

• Our web host and email provider, who store the enquiry in order to deliver it to us.
• Google, for Analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies) and reCAPTCHA (see below).
• Subcontractors and suppliers, where your details are needed to carry out or price your job — for example, passing an address to a supplier making a delivery.
• Our accountant and insurers, where required.
• Regulators or law enforcement, where we are legally required to do so.

Google may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. We use as few as possible.

Analytics cookies are switched off by default. Nothing is set until you press "Accept cookies" on the banner. If you reject, or simply ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are stored.

You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though blocking the strictly necessary ones may stop the contact form working.

Google reCAPTCHA

Our contact forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which scores submissions in the background to tell real enquiries from automated spam. It collects hardware and software information and sends it to Google for analysis. We treat this as strictly necessary, because without it the form would be unusable within days.

Your use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become work: up to 12 months, then deleted.
• Customer and job records: 6 years after the work finishes, to meet HMRC and insurance requirements.
• Records relating to fire door installation and compliance work: retained longer where there is a legal or safety reason to do so.
• Analytics data: retained by Google for up to 14 months.

How we protect it

The site is served over an encrypted connection. Enquiries are delivered to a password-protected email account. Access is limited to the people who need it to do their job. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy
• Have inaccurate information corrected
• Ask us to delete information, where we have no ongoing reason to keep it
• Ask us to restrict how we use it
• Object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests
• Ask for your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis we rely on

Children

This site is intended for adults arranging building work. We do not knowingly collect information about children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant we will make that clear on the site.
